Looking for something different this summer? Join our exciting Summer Reptile Club at Bristol Reptile Encounters and become a Junior Reptile Keeper! This fun and educational 2-hour session gives children the opportunity to get hands-on with a variety of amazing reptiles while learning how to care for them safely and responsibly. During the session, children will: 🦎 Meet and handle a range of friendly reptiles 🐍 Learn fascinating facts about different species from around the world 🥗 Help prepare food for some of our reptiles 🦗 Assist with feeding selected animals (excluding snakes) 🏠 Learn about enclosure setup, heating, lighting and animal welfare 🧼 Discover the importance of hygiene and safe animal handling ❓ Ask questions and learn what it's really like to care for reptiles Our experienced reptile keepers will guide children throughout the session, ensuring they have a fun, safe and memorable experience while building confidence around animals. As a special keepsake, every child will receive: 🏅 A personalised Junior Reptile Keeper Certificate 🔑 A FREE photo keyring to take home Whether your child already loves reptiles or is simply curious to learn more, our Reptile Club offers a unique opportunity to learn, handle and explore in a safe and engaging environment. Cancellation Policy
Reptile Club is for children aged 6+ and gives children the chance to learn about reptiles, safe handling, food preparation and animal care in a fun and supervised setting. All children must be booked in by a parent or guardian. Parents/guardians must provide emergency contact details and tell us about any allergies, medical conditions, additional needs or anything else we should know before the session starts. Children must listen to staff instructions at all times. This is especially important when handling, feeding or being near animals. Any child who behaves in a way that may put themselves, others or the animals at risk may be asked to sit out or be collected early. Animal welfare is our main priority. Animals will only be used if staff feel they are suitable on the day. Some animals may not be available if they are shedding, resting, feeding, unwell, stressed or affected by temperature. Staff may stop handling or feeding at any time. Animals must be handled gently and calmly. Children must not squeeze, drop, pull, chase, poke or scare any animal. Children must not touch an animal’s head, mouth, eyes or tail unless told to do so by staff. Food preparation and feeding may be included where suitable. Children may help prepare food and feed selected reptiles under close supervision. Children will not feed snakes. Staff will decide which animals are suitable on the day. All children must wash their hands with warm water and soap after touching animals, equipment or food items, and before eating or drinking. Hand sanitiser does not replace proper handwashing after animal contact. Food and drink must not be consumed inside the reptile room. Children must not enter staff-only areas, storage areas or animal enclosures unless instructed and supervised. In the event of a bite, scratch, illness, injury or emergency, staff will follow first aid procedures, record the incident and contact the parent/guardian where needed. Emergency services will be contacted if required. Photos and videos will only be taken where permission has been given by a parent or guardian. Children must be collected by a parent, guardian or nominated adult. We will not release a child to an unknown adult without confirmed permission. By booking Reptile Club, parents/guardians agree that their child must follow all safety rules and staff instructions.
